Conspiracy to curtail General Fonseka’s powers

A conspiracy has been launched to slash powers vested with the Chief of Defence Staff post, which is currently held by General Sarath Fonseka.

Staff and security allocated to General Fonseka have already been reduced and the powers and facilities he had been promised when he was appointed to the position have not been given as well.

The official gazette announcing the position and its powers has not been published yet.

The main reason for the conspiracy against General Fonseka is said to be his stand against fraud and corruption. He has been very strict against fraud and corruption and has taken drastic action against such acts.

Having such a person in the position of ‘Chief of Staff’ has been considered a hindrance by certain officers and politicians who are bent on fraud and corruption.

When authorities had wanted to resettle the IDPs in areas before land mines were cleared General Fonseka had objected to such a move. He was of the view that security in the areas should be strengthened before the IDPs are resettled. However, there is a move to resettle the IDPs without any proper plan.

Patriotic Sri Lankans delivered their verdict on Jan 26th very clearly. NO to a Military Man; NO to the bloody JVP; NO to the impotent UNP, NO to those who insulted and humiliated the Military's gains during their capture of terrorist territory; NO to the TNA and Tamil terrorist alliances, NO to any other Ethnic groups who are only interested in themselves; NO to any Foreign interferences; Snub to Chandrika; Snub to SLFP breakaways. It was a astounding YES to the Patriot who made the Right decision to take on the terrorists and defeat them totally. It was a clear YES to give him a second term to embark on the next phase of developing the Nation and uplifting its Economy. Believe me - no Military coup nor any other type of government toppling tactics will ever work in Sri Lanka unlike in other third world countries because Patriotism has always and still does prevail in our Nation! West please note - all your efforts will be in vain if you ever dare try.
