General Fonseka assures permanent security for North


Honourable General Sarath Fonseka started the week on Monday by calling on the Mahanayake of The Asgiriya Chapter , the Venerable Udugama Sri Buddharakkitha Thera in Kandy.


At the event, Gen. Fonseka reassured Sri Lankans in the North of the country, that he has taken full responsibility to strengthen the region's security.


He said:

  • A plan is under way to build permanent military camps in place of the existing temporary camps.
  • Security will not be decreased despite the prevailing atmosphere of peace in the area.
  • Terrorists are still being tracked down by the Security Forces.
  • Many of the hardcore terrorists are among them.
  • Resettlement of the IDP's should be well planned.
  • IDPs should not be allowed to join hands with the terrorists again.
  • A terrorist leader , KP , is now disclosing many secrets of the organization.
  • KP who formed an international network to support the LTTE commanded high recognition in the western world.
