At the event, Gen. Fonseka reassured Sri Lankans in the North of the country, that he has taken full responsibility to strengthen the region's security.
He said:
- A plan is under way to build permanent military camps in place of the existing temporary camps.
- Security will not be decreased despite the prevailing atmosphere of peace in the area.
- Terrorists are still being tracked down by the Security Forces.
- Many of the hardcore terrorists are among them.
- Resettlement of the IDP's should be well planned.
- IDPs should not be allowed to join hands with the terrorists again.
- A terrorist leader , KP , is now disclosing many secrets of the organization.
- KP who formed an international network to support the LTTE commanded high recognition in the western world.
